This was like a dream come true . I was working in one of those organisations where I literally wanted to contribute . A huge part of my ongoing research in IIIT Hyderabad as a Dual Degree Student was really entangled with Wikimedia and then working with them . This was a one time opportunity that I wanted to grab with both hands open . The message that welcomed us and the email of Google Summer of code team literally meant a lot to me .

The welcome message by the team . Made me feel valued as an intern .
The welcome email by the Google Summer of Code team that I recieved on 18th of May (as I was in India ) .

The first three weeks were designed to be the part of the community bonding period . The time was given to us as a part of our grooming where we grow out of our windows and shells and communicate for the better work at the foundation . Working remotely definetely meant that I had to figure out stuff by myself but honestly it never felt like that .

Within the first week we had a meeting with the other fellow GsoC and Outreachy interns and that interaction was really fun and was filled with other innovative ideas regarding how to make the utilities of wikipedia more diverse and increase their usability .

Then towards the begining of second week , I had a conference video call with one of the mentor for the project Chris Albon, I got to know about their journey in WMF, discussed the project, and a lot of insights on how Wikimedia works. We also discussed about how my project is like a pilotproject where I have to experiment with stuff and read about things and go crazy with my approach ( not to limit myself to my proposal ) .

For my help , Chris introduced myself to two other members in the WMF-ML team Amir and Issac . My meeting for them was fixed to be done in the next two weeks to get myself prepared for the project .

In general , this time had really set me up for the GSoC experience and I am really excited to work and give my best :) .
